The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has warned the Igbo to be cautious of their romance and familiarity with Nigerian former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
It warned the Igbo leaders with particularly politicians to be careful of their relationship with Obasanjo and described their recent romance with him as “ominous”.
In a statement by the MASSOB leader, Mr Uchenna Madu, the group describes “Obasanjo’s current political antics, romance and friendship in Igbo land as suspect and dangerous to the political survival of Igbo people in Nigeria.”
The statement reads in part:
“During Obasanjo’s eight years tenure as Nigerian President he consciously and willfully created political problems for Ndigbo.
“He initiated several political frustration against Abia, Anambra Enugu, Imo States during the tenure of Orji Uzor Kalu, Chinwoke Mbadinoju and Chimaroke Nnamani respectfully.
“Obasanjo denied Igbo land infrastructural development, he politically witch haunted our people. He also mesmerized Ndigbo by changing Igbo senators five times in office of Senate president.
“Obasanjo is working secretly through some disgruntled Igbo politicians to destabilize the developing cohesion among Igbo leaders.
“Today Igbo governors of Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu States are celebrating him by inviting him to commission projects in their respective states.”
