FLASHBACK REPORT OF JANUARY 12TH, 2015 Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated the presidential campaign council on Monday (January 11th, 2015) in Abuja, saying no Nigerian will sleep with hunger or anger if elected at the February 14 polls. Buhari who flew to Owerri, Imo state capital immediately after the inauguration also promised to secure the country “against all threats, manage its resources efficiently and with demonstrable transparency, and then fix whatever is amiss in it.” “Under an APC government, no one will go to bed hungry, angry with the government or with the fear of insurgents or nocturnal visitors. We shall secure the government for the people and fix it,” he said‎. Reacting to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s statements against the APC, Buhari calmed his supporters, saying “just as our primary election was an example for the nation, so must our conduct of the campaign also be exemplary.” Buhari further warned his supporters on election violence, saying “I must warn all my supporters, volunteers and other well-wishers within the party or even out of it not to insult or be rude to any other aspirant or party leader on my behalf.” He urged his supporters not to engage in any kind of behaviour or conduct that will tarnish the image of the party, adding that “whoever does that should know he or she is working for the enemy.” ‎ The APC flag-bearer urged his supporters to be good ambassadors of the opposition, saying “as a body, the opposition is committed to the rule of law; and as members of the parties in the opposition, you must learn to do the same at all times.” ]]>
