The Coalition of Northern Groups has vowed to take the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged plan to cause violence in the country and genocide against the northerners.

The coalition’s spokesman Abdulazeez Suleiman, according to Daily Trust, told a press conference in Kano it has facts and evidence of incitement to violence and possible mass atrocity, crimes or even genocide against the north by the IPOB.

Suleiman urged the federal government and all security agencies to be mindful with IPOB members, noting that the agitations and disturbances going on ceaselessly in the country since 2015 were aimed at rendering the country ungovernable.

Suleiman said, “The targeting of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and singling him for attacks and irreverent is a calculated plan to causing inter-regional crisis that may possibly lead to general unrest.

“The resurgence of separatist agitations especially the violent brand by the IPOB and its ilk in the southeast represents a wider conspiracy to divide the north along ethnic and religious faultiness as well as achieve the balkanization of the north.”

“The strategy is also aimed at diminishing the viability of the north and rendering it capable of standing on its own feet and competing favorably with other parts of the country by destabilizing the efforts of the Buhari administration to diversify the economy with emphasis on agricultural revival.”
