President Muhammadu Buhari and members of his immediate family have observed the Eid Al-Fitr prayer at the presidential villa.

The president’s decision to observe the prayer at the Aso Rock was in compliance with the COVID-19 protocol stipulated by the presidential steering committee (PSC).

Buhari was joined by Ahmed Lawan, senate president; Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives; Babagana Monguno, national security adviser; Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff and other aides to observe the prayers.

Aisha Buhari, the first lady, was also seen praying with her daughters at the presidential villa.

Earlier, the president had said he will observe a private Eid Al-Fitr at the presidential villa, without receiving visitors.

Large congregational prayers usually come after the month-long Ramadan fast but with the COVID-19 pandemic, the prayers have been restricted to small gatherings.
