What A Broken PDP – Heal Your Self Inflicted Injuries!, By Olulana Alofe

"How are the mighty fallen!" To understand how low PDP has sunk, have you noticed that we do not talk about the party much these days and if references are made to it, they revolve around individuals with cases in Election Tribunals or court cases about corruption? The party spokesman too is heard from "barking" at PMB or APC sporadically.

A very sad development for Nigeria as a vibrant opposition is needed otherwise, APC WILL become a bully just like PDP was.

The fastest way for PDP to regroup is to transform into a constructive critic of the Buhari administration. It cannot be seen as only interested in bringing down the government's popularity because then, it will never be seen as a better substitute. If for every gaffe PMB's administration makes, PDP proffers a viable alternative, within a short time it will become credible once more. IT IS POSSIBLE even though right now, it is a joke.

This is how I think PDP should attack. APC has no economic policy in place? PDP should present one. There are no programs to alleviate poverty? PDP needs to present theirs. Focus on that angle of attack. Yes, many will say what did PDP do in 16 years and why did it not perform what it is asking APC to excel at now? Take such criticism like a man because your injury is self inflicted. Let it heal but do not lick your wound in self pity. Big mistake! Expect such references to die down once it becomes clear PDP is actually making sense.

Of course, an overhaul of deadwood politicians in its ranks is imperative. Let them become back-benchers, never to be heard from on party policy again! "Seat warmers" at party congresses.

APC must learn from PDP so that the party is greater than the individual!

If PDP is too rigid to transform, let other political parties form and take its place. "To whom much is given, much is expected."

A lot of political currency is given to the opposition and much is expected from it.
