JUST IN: Gov. Ambode Congratulates Lagos Guber Candidate, Sanwo-olu
Nigeria Political News 3rd October, 2018: Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of Lagos state, has accepted his loss of the gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), congratulating Babajide Sanwo-Olu, winner of the exercise.
Sanwo-Olu polled 970,851 votes ahead of the governor who secured 72,901 votes.
In his address, Ambode said APC is a great party, appealing to residents of the state to give Sanwo-Olu the needed support in the 2019 election.
He also promised to ensure a smooth transition.
“In the last few days, there has been palpable tension in Lagos state but I strongly believe that the time has come for the state to move forward so that our progress in the last three and the half years are not erased,” he said.
“Dear Lagosians, APC is a great party and the interest of our beloved state must clearly supersede that of any individuals. It is in this regard that I wholeheartedly congratulate the winner of Lagos state APC primary, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”
Commissioner for Arts and Tourism, Mr Steve Ayorinde also confirmed this in a tweet moment ago.
