Bauchi Finance Commissioner Quits, Decamps To PDP
The Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Garba Mohammed Akuyam, has resigned his appointment.
Akuyam’s resignation, which was contained in a letter made available to newsmen at a press conference in Bauchi on Friday, came less than 24 hours to the supplementary elections in the state.
He said his decision to withdraw his service was as a result of the recent political developments in the state.
The former commissioner said, “It is with pains, heavy heart and deep concern that I write to tender my resignation as Honorable Commissioner for Finance and member of the Bauchi State Executive Council with effect from today, March 22, 2019. I am compelled to resign my appointment in view of the recent developments and political realities of present day Bauchi State, as well as dictates of the moment.”
But few hours announcing his resignation, it was learnt that the former commissioner had joined the Peoples Democratic Party in the state immediately after his action.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, shared his pictures with the former commissioner, on his verified Facebook page. This was later confirmed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Turaki Hassan.
Dogara wrote, “Glad to receive my brother Hon Garba Akuyam who just resigned as commissioner of finance Bauchi State and joined the PDP family in Bauchi.”
Governor Abubabakar is battling hard to be re-elected for a second term.
