Biafra Separatist Leader, Nnamdi Kanu With New SAN, Storm Court On Monday

Detained leader of the Independent Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has hired a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to defend him in court.

The SAN, whose name is yet to be disclosed is to work with another lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, to secure the IPOB leader’s release, according to an online blog, Biafra Star News.

Kanu is behind held by the Department for State Security which has filed fresh charges of terrorism and conspiracy against him and two others.

He is due to appear at a Federal High Court in Abuja court on Monday January 18, 2016 for the hearing of his bail application.

New Telegraph reports that his new lawyers have already secured the release of 100 IPOB members detained by security agents in Abuja.

They have also filed a motion at a high court seeking to compel the Federal Government to produce him in court at every hearing of his case.

In August 2015, two lawyer had battle in court to represent Kanu, who is also the director of pirate Radio Biafra.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has already ordered hi release but DSS still held on to him befor filing new charges.
