After Maduro’s fall, Nigerian cleric claims Tinubu is next as U.S. influence deepens

Barely a day after Nigeria’s political space was shaken by warnings that a rigged election could end like Venezuela, a fresh and more explosive claim has emerged: President Bola Tinubu is already in the crosshairs of global power. According to a prominent cleric, Primate Ayodele, the United States is not merely helping Nigeria fight insecurity, it is also positioning to determine who stays in power.

“Trump Is After Removing Tinubu”

The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has warned that U.S. President Donald Trump is determined to see President Bola Tinubu removed from office.

In a statement issued through his media office, Ayodele claimed that Tinubu has already been “caged,” insisting that Washington’s growing involvement in Nigeria’s security affairs goes far beyond counter-terrorism cooperation.

Maduro’s Removal Sparks New Fear

The cleric directly linked his warning to the dramatic removal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, saying Nigeria should learn from recent global events.

His comments echo the earlier political storm sparked by the headline “Rig Like Maduro, End Like Maduro — PDP Chieftain Warns Tinubu Ahead of 2027,” which argued that disputed elections now attract international consequences.

According to Ayodele, the Maduro episode has emboldened global actors and changed the rules of political survival.

“Security Help Is Not Free”

Ayodele claimed that U.S. support for Nigeria’s fight against insecurity is not driven by goodwill alone, but by strategic penetration of the Nigerian state.

He warned that whether insecurity ends or not, Trump’s alleged focus remains unchanged: the eventual removal of Tinubu from office.

Call for Urgent Political Strategy

The cleric urged Tinubu to act decisively, warning that failure to respond politically could leave him isolated and vulnerable.

According to him, the president must urgently deploy bold strategies to counter external pressure or risk being overtaken by forces already in motion.

Fear, Prophecy, and Power Politics

The claims have triggered intense reactions across political and religious circles, with supporters describing the warning as prophetic insight, while critics dismiss it as alarmist.

Yet coming on the heels of global upheavals and rising international involvement in domestic politics, the message has added fresh anxiety to Nigeria’s already charged political climate.

As Nigeria inches closer to 2027, one unsettling question now hangs in the air: is the battle for power still local — or has it gone global?
