CBN greenlights appointment of four new directors at Abbey mortgage Plc

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has granted approval for the appointment of four new non-executive directors at Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc, as disclosed in the company’s notification to the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the general investing public.

The newly appointed directors are Mrs. Christabel Onyejekwe, who assumes the role of an independent non-executive director, Ms. Jewel Okwechime as a non-executive director, Ms. Chika Ochonogor as a non-executive director, and Mr. Obinna C. Ufudo as a non-executive director.

Mrs. Christabel Onyejekwe, a seasoned banker with over 30 years of experience in various financial institutions, retired as an Executive Director from the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems (NIBSS).

She holds an MBA in Banking & Finance from ESUT Business School and an LL. B (Hons) from the University of Lagos, with additional certificates in corporate-level strategy from Harvard Business School and Global Management from INSEAD Business School Spain.

Ms. Jewel Okwechime, with a BTech degree from Halton College, Cheshire, England, and an M.Eng in Chemical and Bio-Process Engineering from the University of Surrey, brings expertise in Environmental Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management, Sustainability Business Development, and Performance Optimization.

Ms. Chika Ochonogor, a dual-qualified lawyer with over 15 years of experience, has worked in both private and corporate practice.

She holds an LLB from the University of Kent Canterbury and a Master’s in International Business Law from the University of Toulouse, France. She presently serves as the Lead Consultant at Filament Consulting, Lagos.

Mr. Obinna C. Ufudo, a multi-sector management professional with 30 years of postgraduate work experience, holds a B.Sc degree in Finance from Enugu State University of Technology, an MBA from the University of Navara, Spain, and an M.Sc in International Securities Investment & Banking from the University of Reading, UK.

He has held leadership positions, including the President/CEO of the Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp), and currently serves as the Chairman of Atiat Limited and Loan Book Limited.
