CBN delays monetary policy committee meeting again amid inflation surge

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has once again delayed the meeting of its monetary policy committee, despite the ongoing surge in inflation.

According to a report by Bloomberg on Monday, the CBN’s Director of Corporate Communications, Dr. Isa Abdulmumin, conveyed in a text message response that the MPC (monetary policy committee) would not be holding a meeting this week.

Originally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, this marks the second postponement since Olayemi Cardoso assumed the role of governor in September.

The decision to defer the meeting further prolongs the anticipation of investors and analysts eager to discern Cardoso’s approach to addressing the persistent rise in inflation, which reached 27.33 percent in October 2023.
