Hundreds Of Women, Youths Protest Against Oshiomhole, Ask Him To Resign
Imo, Nigeria News 22nd October, 2018: Hundreds of people consisting of women and youths in Imo State on Monday descended heavily on the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole, accusing him of bring responsible for the botched primaries of the party in the state.
They accused him of substituting four names of candidates who won the election supervised by the Ibrahim Agbabiaka- led electoral committee with that of the dissolved Ahmed Gulak committee.
The angry protesters, who marched through major streets in Owerri, barricaded road in the state capital, alleging that the state was going through turbulent times politically because of what they described as Oshiomhole’s impunity and high handedness.
The protesters vowed not fold their arms and watch the national president of the party destroy APC in the state.
South-east leader of Buhari Campaign Organisation, Ugochi Okoro who spoke on behalf of the women, noted that most members presently in the party left their various parties for exact reason of arbitrariness and lack of regard for due process, as currently bring witnessed in APC.
She said, “Oshiomhole should go back to his cocoon, we would not allow him to destroy APC, this is the party where our governor was called all manner of names, today same people wants to come and hijack the party, we say no!
“Oshiomhole should leave the party for us , Okorocha is our leader and we still standby our president for second term, Imo youths will not stop supporting Ugwumba Uche Nwosu and Buhari, likewise we the the women”
Speaking earlier, the South-east Secretary General for Buhari campaign Organisation, Mr. Charles Amadi called on the President to call Oshiomhole to order, saying that the national chairman’s actions were capable of destabilising the party.
APC State Chairman, Daniel Nwafor, who spoke to newsmen, said he tried to stop the protest but was overpowered by the angry protesters.
He appealed to the National Working Committee(NWC) of the party to, as a matter of urgency, look into the demands of the angry protesters.
