Itsekiri Students Association Holds National Election As Oritseneye Fredrick Emerges President
Jolomi Tuoyo, Electoral Committee Chairman; Amoforitse Grace, Secretary; and other members of the committee
The National Association of Itsekiri Students (NAIS) has held its National Election into various offices of the union today in Delta State.
The election which featured 11 different offices had Mr Oritseneye Fredrick, a student of Delta State University, Abraka, emerging as National President of the association.
Fredrick who contested the position unopposed had a total of 20 votes.
Wilkie Sophia Tosan, a student of Delta State University, Abraka, emerged as National Vice President and scored 18 votes also unopposed.
Other officers who emerged in today's contest include Omatsola O. Daniel, Secretary General from The Polytechnic Ibadan, 18 votes (Unopposed), Izuagie Ete Martins, Assistant Secretary-general , University of Portharcourt, 18 votes (Unopposed).
Mr Ekengbuda Oritseyisan emerged as Financial Secretary and he's from Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe with 20 votes, while Omadoye Eyituoyo is now the Treasurer, from Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, scoring 19 votes.
Mr Omagbemi Rapheal emerged as Welfare Officer, (Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe,) 18 votes (Unopposed), Anaemenam Oritseweyinmi, as PRO, from Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe, scoring 18 votes (Unopposed), Tonukarin Ofeoritse, Director of Socials, from Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, with 19 votes (Unopposed).
Faka Amanoritsewo Stella, provost, a student of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, scored 19 votes (Unopposed) and Gbubemi Deborah, southetn coordinator, College of Education, Agbor. 18 votes (Unopposed).
Comr. Jolomi Tuoyo, the Electoral Committee Chairman said some of the aspirants had to be disqualified because some have graduated from school, some others have petition against them for alleged divertion and misappropriation of the association's funds.
Tuoyo added that some other aspirants that were disqualified are still holding other offices in the association and have not resigned while others could not prove they are presently students as required.
"They submitted only nomination forms without any credentials and they brought no credentials along with them to the screening and some forms doesn't even have passport, he added.
The statement added that those with petitions against them for alleged fraud couldn’t defend themselves convincingly against the the evidence of the petition.

The outgoing National President, Comr. Otikpere Precious thanked all members of the association for the peaceful election and advices the newly elected executives to run an all inclusive government to move the association forward.
Otikpere also enjoined all members of the association to work harmoniously with the new executive elect to achieve the aims and objectives of the association.
He advised all that were not successful to be good sportsman and shouldn't allow their personal interest to push them into undermining the activities of the association, adding that "what all Itsekiris are thinking now is how to support our new king to achieve a greater kingdom".
