JUST IN: APC NWC cancels Lagos guber primary election

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has said there was no primary election in Lagos State.

The party’s governorship primaries were billed to hold at ward levels across the state on Tuesday.

But Premium Times is quoting the panel as saying that it had not sent anyone to the local governments to monitor the primaries, hence the election is not valid.

Already, results of the voting had been announced at several wards in the state but the panel urged the public to disregard such announcements.

Recall that SKYTREND NEWS had earlier reported that the national working committee panel in charge of the governorship primary election in Lagos state has dissociated itself from the exercise.

The committee, according to reports, opposed the option A4 mode used in the election, expressing preference for secret ballot system.

Option A4, still known as open ballot, is a system where voters queue behind the agent or representative of their preferred candidates while secret ballot system is a process where a voter’s choice is confidential.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a former commissioner of the state, is leading Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of the state, by a landslide in the results of the election announced so far.
