Benjamin Best Nnanyereugo, also known as Killaboi, the fugitive who had been sought by Nigerian police in connection with the alleged murder of his girlfriend, has been apprehended in Sierra Leone.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos state police spokesperson, confirmed Killaboi’s arrest on Saturday.
Nnanyereugo was reportedly taken into custody at a nightclub in Freetown on Friday.
The Lagos state police command had declared Killaboi a fugitive on October 10 following his confession to the murder of his 21-year-old lover, Augusta Osedion, who had allegedly been killed on July 13 at Killaboi’s residence in the Oral Estate area of Ajah, Lagos.
On July 17, the gambler admitted to “accidentally” stabbing her to death during an argument, asserting that he never intended to take her life.
He expressed deep remorse for his actions and even suggested he deserved nothing but death for what he had done.
Benjamin Hundeyin had previously disclosed that the police had been unable to apprehend Killaboi through other means, prompting them to issue a public declaration seeking assistance from the public.
The police urged individuals with information regarding Killaboi’s whereabouts to come forward and cooperate.
