NUPENG and the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD), a body within the union, have refuted claims of planning a nationwide strike.
In a statement issued on Monday, Olawale Afolabi, NUPENG’s general secretary, dismissed the reports as an attempt to instigate panic.
Recent queues for petroleum motor spirit (PMS) in some parts of the federal capital territory fueled speculation of a potential industrial action.
Afolabi urged the public to ignore the “false and unfounded” news, asserting that there is no intention to protest.
Augustine Egbon, PTD’s national chair, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing their commitment to national service and support for government efforts.
Egbon called on security agencies to identify those spreading panic and disrupting the petroleum value chain.
