Many National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members are expressing discontent over the exclusion of a monthly allowance increase following the recent N35,000 hike in the national minimum wage.
While government workers have benefited from the wage increase, the federal government has not implemented a corresponding raise in the N33,000 monthly allowance for NYSC members.
Corps members across various states are voicing their concerns about the unchanged allowance and the financial hardships they face.
Rising costs of food, transportation, and other necessities have left many struggling to make ends meet.
Some have even called for the total scrapping of the NYSC program if it cannot provide an adequate allowance to cover basic living expenses.
Despite the minimum wage increment announced by President Bola Tinubu, many NYSC members are disappointed and calling on the federal government to address their concerns and increase their allowances in line with the rising cost of living.
