PDP And The 2019 Presidential Elections, By El Shayib Mohammed

There is this REALLY naive thought by PDP apologist that somehow if they can hound the APC and present a picture of a failed government then maybe the PDP will bounce back in its place in 2019. I cant even begin to they could be that naive a thought that is.

The PDP for all intent and purposes is dead as far as power at the centre is concerned and this is not helped by the combative fanatical SE supporters of the party who seem to alienate the party and themselves further from other Nigerians. If they had the power to install a President on their own, GEJ will still be President.

The fact that they couldn't means they need others regions and they are not friendly terms with anyone right now.

I see pattern repeating itself here, the more the Southeasterners are viewed as unnecessarily hostile to Buhari's government, the more northerners will rally behind their own just like it happened with the SS/SE before the election. The real danger the PDP faces is when others finally see it as an Igbo party. When that happens, it will become a party of perpetual opposition.

There is just no basis for Nigerians voting in back the PDP anytime soon. If you are taking about the falling value of the naira, they devalued it. If we are talking about the insurgency, it got worse under their watch. If we are talking about corruption, they virtually legalized it. So i ask, on the basis what, should the PDP look to the PDP after 16 years of running NOWHERE?
