The House of Representatives has requested the presence of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, to provide information regarding the Federal Government’s conditional cash transfer program to 15 million households.
During a motion of urgent public importance held on Tuesday, the House voiced concerns about the management of the cash transfer program, pointing to allegations of fraudulent activities and a lack of transparency.
The minister is anticipated to provide clarification on data collection and fund distribution.
The Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer program, launched by President Bola Tinubu, aims to aid vulnerable citizens by providing N25,000 monthly payments for three months, totaling N75,000 for each beneficiary among the 15 million households, representing approximately 62 million Nigerians.
