The Senate has appointed Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC), representing Kwara South, as the new Deputy Leader of the Senate.
Senator Nwebonyi Onyeka has been appointed as the new Deputy Chief Whip.
This announcement was made during a plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Ashiru, who previously held the position of Deputy Chief Whip, has now been elevated to the role of Deputy Leader of the Senate, filling the vacancy left by the appointment of Senator Dave Umahi as the Minister of Works by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
