The Supreme Court has initiated the proceedings for the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the election victory of President Bola Tinubu.
Access to the court premises has been limited, with a strong presence of security personnel maintaining strict security arrangements.
The Department of State Services (DSS) officers are meticulously screening individuals seeking entry.
Only a select few journalists have been granted access to the courtroom.
The courtroom is graced by various dignitaries and party leaders, including Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party; and Umar Damagum, the acting national chairman of the PDP. Other notable figures present include Femi Gbajabiamila, the chief of staff to the president, and Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear all the appeals contesting Tinubu’s election victory. The panel of judges overseeing the appeals includes Inyang Okoro, Helen Ogunwumiju, Ibrahim Saulawa, Adamu Jauro, Tijani Abubakar, Emmanuel Agim, and Lawal Garba, with Okoro leading the panel.
