A team of lawyers purportedly engaged by the Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to represent it at the Local Government Election Petition Tribunal in 2014, have dragged the party to court over N92.7 million debt.

Mr Shikammah Sheltu, one of the lawyers told newsmen on Tuesday in Lafia that the party had engaged five of them to represent it at the tribunal in respect of chairmanship and councillorship election in 13 local government areas of the state.

Sheltu claimed that the party had agreed to pay N100 million as professional fee to the legal team out of which only N7.3 million was paid, leaving a balance of N92.7million.

He said that their decision to go to court followed several unsuccessful reminders to the party to pay up the balance. The lawyer said that the suit had been fixed for hearing at the state High Court 1 on Jan. 19, 2016. Commenting on the matter, APC state Secretary, Mr Aliyu Bello, confirmed receipt of the summon and said the party would respond accordingly.
