The Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, convened in Jos, has upheld the victory of Caleb Mutfwang from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Governor of Plateau State.
The tribunal dismissed the petition brought by Nentawe Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tribunal rules in favor of Mutfwang
Nentawe Goshwe had taken his case to the tribunal, contesting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Caleb Mutfwang as the Governor of Plateau State.
He alleged that Mutfwang was not qualified to contest at the time of the election because he had not been validly nominated and sponsored by his party, the PDP, due to the party’s lack of structure during the election.
However, in its judgment delivered on Friday, the tribunal found the petition lacked merit and subsequently dismissed it.
