HAPPENING NOW: Buhari Meeting Security Chiefs, Northern Governors

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting some security chiefs and state governors in what is believed to be part of ongoing efforts to address spate of insecurity in parts of the country.

The governors in attendance are Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Jubrilla Bindo (Adamawa) and Kashim Shettima (Borno).

The meeting holding inside the President’s office has service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police, in attendance.

In Kaduna state, a communal clash in Kajuru local government area has led to killings and reprisals in the last two weeks.

Also in Borno, Boko Haram insurgents have stepped up attacks, recently ambushing the motorcade of the governor and killing soldiers.

Adamawa too has been under attack, but the army has repelled attempts by the insurgents to capture a military formation at Madagali town.
