No fewer than 20,000 workers in all the 16 local government councils of Kwara state have commenced an indefinite strike over the non-payment of seven months’ salaries and allowances  by the state government.

Also, there are strong indications that the workers in the state public service and other parastatals may also down tools any time from now for the non- payment of their two months’ outstanding salaries.

The commencement of the indefinite strike by the council workers, according to Thisday report, was based on the fact that the state government was not ready to offset their outstanding salaries and allowances despite the release of bailout funds from the federal government.
