Okebukola Chairs Crawford Varsity BOT As Ibidapo-Obe Is Named Pro-Chancellor

The authorities of Crawford University in Igbesa, Ogun State have instituted changes in the policy-making organs of the University with the transiting of the Distinguished Professor Peter Akinsola Okebukola from the Pro-Chancellor to the chair of the Board of Trustees of the University.

Also Professor Ibidapo-Obe, erstwhile member of the Governing Council has moved up to become the Chairman of the same council and the Pro-Chancellor of the institution.

These developments came from the session of the Governing Council of the University held in the institution on Thursday, 23rd August, 2018.

Distinguished Professor Okebukola, the first Pro-Chancellor of the 13 year-old University is a renowned academic and university system administrator who had served severally as a Dean, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Acting Vice-Chancellor and –famously- as the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC.

His tenure at the apex regulatory body of the nation’s universities between 2001 and 2006 witnessed many landmark institutional policies such as the setting of minimum standard for academic programmes and closing of unviable programmes. Also, he instituted the conducting of system-wide programmes accreditation and closing of illegal satellite campuses of universities.

The globally-celebrated science-educationist and United Nations scholar is the author of more than 130 research works and has addressed scores of international conferences and summits.

Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, born in 1949 in Ile-Ife, Osun State was a First degree graduate of Mathematics of University of Lagos. He was a Visiting Research Associate Professor of Civil Engineering Department of the State University in Buffalo, New York, USA.

He served as the Vice Chancellor of his Alma Mater, the University of Lagos from 2000 to 2007. He is also a former President at the National Academy of Science. The renowned Higher Educational administrator is a member of boards and councils of several universities.
