The embattled Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has finally today submitted his resignation letter to the party and to the Presidency.

The resignation is to take effect tomorrow, Wednesday the 15th of January, 2014.

Tukur was forced to step down following a brief meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan who warned him that he must resign or face the consequences.

The embattled chairman remained adamant until it was revealed to him that the National Executive Council and the National Working Committee of the PDP were ready to cast a vote of no-confidence by tomorrow against him.

To avert the vote of no confidence by the party officials, Bamanga Tukur hurried a resignation letter and dated his resignation for tomorrow the 15th of January, 2014 after the Muslim holiday.
