PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has made an official announcement regarding the appointment of two new directors, Prof Fabian Ajogwu and Mr Kamar Bakrin, pending confirmation at the next Annual General Meeting.

The disclosure was made through a corporate filing sent to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and reported by news outlets.

According to the statement signed by Company Secretary Olubokola Olonade-Agaga, the Board of Directors of PZ Cussons Nigeria PLC convened on September 4, 2023, to consider and approve several matters, including the appointment of Prof Fabian Ajogwu and Mr Kamar Bakrin as directors.

Pending AGM Approval

However, their appointments are subject to ratification at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting.

Prof Fabian Ajogwu is a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and holds the position of Professor of Corporate Governance at Lagos Business School.

He boasts a rich educational background, including a doctorate in Law from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, an MBA from the IESE Business School at the University of Navarra in Barcelona, and law degrees from the University of Nigeria and the University of Lagos.

Prof Ajogwu also chairs various companies, including Novare Group, ARM Harith Infrastructure Ltd, and NES Global, among others. He serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director for Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc and Guinness Nigeria Plc.

Mr Kamar Bakrin, the other appointee, was previously an Operating Partner at Helios Investment Partners, a prominent Africa-focused private equity firm, where he led the Nigeria office.

He currently chairs the boards of Arnergy Solar Ltd and Scidar and holds positions on the boards of Polysmart Ltd, Quest Energy Services (owners of Ascon Petroleum), and Asiko Energy Holdings.

Mr Bakrin is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a member of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ilorin and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
