The Federal Government has declared the temporary closure of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, with the maintenance work scheduled to commence from midnight on Saturday, October 21, until midnight on Sunday, October 22.

According to Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, the government is prepared to initiate comprehensive rehabilitation on the bridge, with initial focus on critical repairs.

Kesha conveyed the government’s intention to inform the motoring public about the impending comprehensive repair project for the Third Mainland Bridge.

She stated, “However, in order to alleviate the pains currently being experienced on the bridge, the Ministry would be carrying out palliative works on the most critically failed sections along the Adeniji bound carriageway on Sunday, Oct. 22, preparatory to the comprehensive repair works.”

Kesha also urged motorists to collaborate with traffic management officials by adhering to diversions and instructions for smooth traffic flow.

She advised drivers to consider alternative routes where possible during the temporary closure, as the Adeniji-bound section of the bridge would be inaccessible from Saturday, October 21, until midnight on Sunday, October 22.
