Unilever Nigeria employees, in collaboration with Wecyclers and the Food & Beverage Recycling Alliance, recently marked World Clean-Up Day 2023 at Obele Nursery and Primary School, Surulere, Lagos.

During the event, the employees conducted a cleanup exercise and donated waste bins to promote proper waste disposal and hygiene practices among the school’s pupils.

Focus on unity and waste transformation

Godfrey Adejumoh, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Business at Unilever Nigeria, stated that World Clean-Up Day is a global initiative aimed at bringing communities together to enhance cleanliness.

The event was aligned with the 2023 theme, “Embody Unity,” and sought to create a positive impact on the students and teachers of Obele Nursery and Primary School.

Folake Ogundipe, National Finance Director at Unilever Nigeria, highlighted the importance of educating people about proper waste management practices and transforming waste into valuable resources. This initiative reflects Unilever Nigeria’s corporate purpose.

Esther Chibuenyin-Fagbo, Head of Human Resources and Partnerships, emphasized the event’s purpose of raising awareness about waste recycling and turning waste into wealth.

She encouraged individuals to collect recyclables such as plastic, paper, cans, cardboard, and bottles and exchange them for cash at Wecyclers recycling hubs.
