APM Terminals Apapa, Nigeria’s largest container terminal, celebrated its 2023 Annual Global Safety Day with the theme “We Make It Safe To Speak Up.”

This theme underscores the company’s commitment to creating an environment where employees feel empowered to ask questions, voice concerns, and offer solutions.

Steen Knudsen, the Terminal Manager at APM Terminals Apapa, emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of feedback at all levels within the organization.

Positive change through prompt issue addressing

He highlighted that challenging the status quo and addressing challenges promptly can lead to positive changes and improvements in the business.

Knudsen encouraged employees to speak up when they identify issues or have ideas for enhancements, even if it requires courage.

APM Terminals Apapa’s dedication to safeguarding its employees, business partners, host community, and customers was reiterated during the event.

The terminal operator is committed to conducting its operations safely, securely, and with minimal environmental impact.

This commitment includes providing a safe and healthy work environment, complying with relevant Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) regulations, ensuring business continuity for customers through consistent HSSE processes, and embedding HSSE risk management throughout its operations and decision-making processes.

Frederik Klinke, the Chief Executive Officer of APM Terminals Nigeria, expressed gratitude to employees and stakeholders for maintaining a strong safety record at the facility.
