Flutterwave, Africa’s premier payments technology company, proudly announced that it has offered full-time positions to nearly 85% of its 200 Graduate Trainees (GTs) following the successful conclusion of its inaugural GT program.

This development underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to nurturing young talent and solidifying its reputation as an exceptional workplace, offering a conducive environment for individuals seeking clear career advancement opportunities in the tech sector.

Launched in August 2022, the Flutterwave Graduate Trainee Program spanned 12 months and provided paid traineeships to recent graduates with limited to no prior work experience but abundant career aspirations.

The program’s objective was to cultivate a pool of young talent, equipping them with both technical and soft skills, while providing practical experiences within a global organization boasting over 750 employees worldwide.

Notably, this program exemplified Flutterwave’s responsiveness to the needs of its customers, young talent, and the community.

It was meticulously tailored to accommodate the unique requirements of recent graduates, including flexibility to align with their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) commitments.

More than 170 GTs have successfully transitioned from their graduate trainee roles and will commence their careers as Analysts and Engineer 1s, aligning with Flutterwave’s newly crafted and introduced career progression framework.

This framework offers a clearly defined growth pathway from Analyst to Executive Vice President.

Graduate trainee program marks major achievement

The program reflects Flutterwave’s ongoing efforts to fortify and enhance its People Organization, ensuring that employees have a transparent career growth trajectory in line with global standards.

This comprehensive framework, developed and implemented in collaboration with a top-tier global consulting firm, marks a significant stride toward fostering development and advancement throughout the organization.

In celebration of the program’s successful conclusion, a #RookiestoPro graduation ceremony was held to acknowledge the efforts and accomplishments of the former graduate trainees.

During this exclusive event held in Lagos, Chijioke Okorji, a Developer Experience Engineer 1 at Flutterwave, shared his excitement, stating, “There’s a clear difference in my growth from when I joined to now.

I have a better understanding of my career path and have acquired marketable skills that I am proud of. More organizations like Flutterwave should give young people a chance through initiatives like this.”

Commenting on the program’s success and the growth prospects available to Flutterwave employees, Mansi Babyloni, Flutterwave’s Global Chief People Officer, remarked, “We are thrilled to have accomplished our goal of providing 200 exceptionally bright young graduates with opportunities to learn on the job and jumpstart their tech careers early in life.

As 170 of them transition from GTs to full-time employees after completing 12 months of on-the-job training and shadowing, there are myriad opportunities available for them to explore.

I am excited that they get to grow their career on our newly launched career progress framework, which is the definition of endless possibilities.

Today they’re Analysts and Engineer 1s; tomorrow they could be VPs and CXOs. Anything is possible at Flutterwave. I wish all our 200 GTs, even those who moved on to other opportunities, only the very best. The world is your oyster!”

Bode Abifarin, Chief Operating Officer of Flutterwave, expressed gratitude for the successful completion of the Flutterwave Graduate Trainee Program, acknowledging the contributions of the People Team and Graduate Trainee Managers in coaching, mentoring, and training the GTs for their transition into Analysts and Engineer 1s.

This achievement aligns with Flutterwave’s mission to create limitless possibilities for all, and the careers of these young talents have indeed taken off, with boundless potential for the future.
