Group Launches FemPreneur, To Empower Nigerian Women On Agriculture

An NGO, the Ethel Women Initiative has launched FemPreneur to encourage and empower Nigerian women, home and abroad to take profession in farming and agriculture as a whole.

FemPreneur is one of its kind here in Nigeria, where women are encouraged and trained to go into farming and or become agriculturists in a competitive environment.

According to the Executive Director of the NGO, Elizabeth Era, the mission of Ethel Women Initiative, is to enlighten, educate and empower Nigerian women all over, both home and abroad.

The inaugural FemPreneur Entrepreneurial and Agricultural Reality TV show season 1 ended on the 7th of June 2019, with Aletor Stephanie Iyoha from Edo State, emerging the winner of the competition and reality TV show.

The just concluded season 1 of this programme started with the farming of livestock, training of birds from day old chicks to adult chickens. The idea is to teach women who are interested in rearing poultry how to do it, but in a competitive manner.

The Entrepreneurial and Agricultural Reality TV show lasted for 8 weeks, with rigorous training in different areas, from rearing of poultry, to fishery and the business part of farming. It was a wonderful experience with all the contestants.

The show was officially sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in partnership with Songhai Delta Farms Amukpe.
