Mele Kyari reappointed as NNPC group CEO

President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for the constitution of the board and management team of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

Mele Kyari has been retained as the Group Chief Executive Officer, and Pius Akinyelure appointed as the Non-Executive Board Chairman, according to a statement from Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Umar Isa Ajiya remains the Chief Financial Officer.

The appointments also include six non-executive directors: Ledum Mitee, Musa Tumsa, Ghali Muhammad, Mustapha Aliyu, David Ogbodo, and Eunice Thomas.

In addition, President Tinubu has approved the appointment of Okokon Ekanem Udo as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance and Gabriel Aduda as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

These appointments will become effective from December 1, 2023.

The President emphasized compliance with the performance-driven mandate and results-oriented approach in implementing energy policies for the optimal utilization of existing oil and gas resources and the exploration of cleaner energy sources.

Previously, in September, NNPC appointed Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan as Executive Vice President, Upstream; Olalekan Ogunleye as Executive Vice President, Gas, and New Energy; and Adedapo Segun as Executive Vice President, Downstream.
