Najeebat Sule, Nigerian beauty queen and Ph.D. student, has been gunned down in the US.

The 24-year-old was said to have been shot dead while sitting in her car in front of her family’s home shortly before 6 pm on March 12. This was steps away from her residence in the 8800 block of Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia.

According to Philadelphia Inquirer, nearly three weeks after her murder, police are yet to make any arrest, leaving Sule’s family and friends searching for answers.

It was gathered that Adewale Sule, the father of the deceased, was in their living room when he heard gunshots.

“When I heard the gunshots, I came out. I saw the guy shooting my daughter. He shot the last round and I pursued him. … He ran back to his car,” the father was quoted as saying.

It is also understood that Adewale and his wife have been moved to an undisclosed location for safety.

Habibat Magaji, a close friend of Sule, said they had been texting back and forth about photos they took after their sleepover when the deceased suddenly stopped responding.

“I got a call that something had happened and I was, like, ‘No there has been a mistake.’ I’m waiting for her to reply to my text. She had texted me at 5:30. I can’t think of anything that would make anyone want to kill her,” she said.
