NSCDC unveils VIP protection unit, graduates 501 officers

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has introduced a new division known as the VIPs Protection Unit, dedicated to safeguarding individuals facing threats due to their elevated status.

In a ceremony held at the Corps headquarters in Abuja on Friday, the inaugural group of 501 trained personnel graduated, marking the commencement of their roles in VIP protection.

Commandant General Ahmed Audi, addressing the Passing Out Parade, emphasized that VIP protection aligns with NSCDC’s existing mandate.

Representing Audi, ACG Austine Obiekwe urged the personnel to uphold the Corps’ reputation, warning of consequences for any misconduct that could tarnish its image.

The week-long training, overseen by ACG David Abi, involved drilling personnel from arms squad units nationwide in specialized proficiency for bodyguard and VIP protection duties.
