A Federal Capital Territory high court has ordered the remand of 13 members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Branch of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) in Kuje Correctional Centre.

They are accused of the attempted murder of the National President of NUPENG, Williams Akporeha, and two others.

The court, presided over by Justice Yusuf Halilu, issued the remand order after the defendants were arraigned on a five-count criminal charge.

The charges include laying siege to the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) office with intent to cause a breach of peace.

The defendants, including a former National Chairman of the PTD, Lucky Osesua, pleaded not guilty.

The court has scheduled the trial to commence on November 21 and ordered their remand until then.
