The Ogun State Police Command is actively pursuing two suspected rapists who allegedly assaulted minors in the Isabo area of Abeokuta and Abule-Osho in the Olambe area of Ifo Local Government Area on Thursday.

In the first incident, a 12-year-old student of Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Abeokuta, was reportedly defiled by an unidentified man.

Sources indicate that the victim and her sister were roaming the streets after being allegedly sent away by their parents for an unspecified offense.

The suspect, yet to be identified, reportedly invited them to his residence for shelter. The assault occurred the night before the girls were sent away in the morning.

Upon learning of the incident, the school principal took the victim to the Ibara Police Division to report the crime.

In a similar occurrence in Abule-Osho, Olambe area, a seven-year-old girl, who had left her house to purchase a snack, was suspected to have been defiled by an unknown man.

According to police reports, the girl left her grandmother’s house to buy a snack at a nearby stall and was allegedly dragged to a nearby bush by the assailant on Thursday.

The minor experienced uncontrollable bleeding from her private parts, prompting a rushed hospital admission for treatment.

Confirming both incidents, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, expressed the ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects.

In a WhatsApp chat on Sunday, Odutola stated, “Efforts are on top gear to begin arresting those involved in the crime.

Our men visited the scenes of the crimes. We have also commenced intelligence gathering to arrest the suspects for prosecution.”
