It is no longer news that how we lived when we were younger has a direct impact on how we will look and feel when older.

Although aging is a transformation no one can skip, yours could be a beautiful experience if you inculcate a healthy lifestyle which will make you live longer and also look younger.

If you don’t want to look a decade older than you actually are, then you need to quit these unhealthy habits listed below:

  • Begrudging

Life, they say, is too short and precious to hold on to grudges. This should also be your watchword if you don’t want to age fast. You need to learn how to move on from situations and forgive easily.

For instance, frowning every time you are angry might cause your face to wrinkle. According to a study, forgiveness leads to better physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing.

  • Sleeplessness

Sleeping regularly is crucial to one’s well-being. Therefore, you should get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.

According to a study, a night of insufficient sleep can make the cells of the body age faster. Sleep helps the skin, immune systems, brain, and body generally.

However, if you are having sleepless nights or experiencing tiredness when you wake up, you should visit a doctor as such might be sleep apnoea.

  • Exposure to sun

There is no doubt sun provides the body with vitamins. However, excessive exposure to the sun’s rays can weaken your skin’s blood vessels and cells.

The skin has elastic fibres that keep it firm but when these fibres are damaged by excessive ultraviolet rays from the sun, the skin begins to lose and wrinkle.

You can simply avoid this by applying sunscreen on your skin before exposure to the sun.

  • Unhealthy diet

Food is truly important to our body but you need to know and watch what we eat. This is because you’re what you eat.

If you really want to age effortlessly, then you should reduce your intake of processed and fatty foods as well as red meats. You can replace these with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other foods that will help boost your immune system.

  • Not drinking enough water

The body is basically made up of water, so naturally, it’s important to take water often in other to replenish.

The skin needs enough fluids to remain fresh, firm, and healthy. Not drinking enough water causes dry skin, skin patches, and skin itching which are not needed if you want to age beautifully.

  • Lack of exercise

Exercising regularly improves blood circulation in the body and also keeps the skin healthy. If you want to retain that youthful look while aging, then you need to be committed to regular physical activities that will help keep your body and mind healthy.

Exercise helps to increase beneficial hormones such as testosterone, lowers cortisol levels, improves mood, and controls blood pressure. Constant exercise can also help keep your weight in check and also prolong your life span.

  • Stress

Nothing can actually make you age faster than constant stress. Stress can lead to an increase in blood pressure, sleep disruption, insomnia, and also affect the skin.

Stress from work and family members is inevitable but you must find the best way to handle it to avoid premature aging.
