The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, is expected to form the Supreme Court panel that will hear the appeal arising from the Presidential Election Petitions Court’s judgment on Wednesday.
The Presidential Election Petitions Court upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress on September 6, 2023.
Atiku and Obi to appeal presidential election
However, presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi from the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party, respectively, rejected the decision and pledged to approach the Supreme Court. They have until Wednesday to file their appeal.
As of now, the panel’s members remain unknown, and it is anticipated that the Chief Justice of Nigeria will announce the panel by Wednesday.
Peter Obi’s legal team is expected to file their appeal on Tuesday, and there are no plans to change the legal team.
The appeal process involves 89 Senior Advocates of Nigeria representing the parties involved, including Atiku, Obi, and President Tinubu.
