TotalEnergies has announced the appointment of Matthieu Bouyer as the Managing Director and Chief Executive for the company’s upstream operations in Nigeria.
This appointment also includes his role as the company’s representative in Nigeria, starting from August 21.

Bouyer’s appointment follows the tenure of Mike Sangster, who held this position for four years.
Matthieu Bouyer has a strong background within TotalEnergies, having previously worked at the company’s headquarters in France as a strategy analyst focusing on long-term and transformative topics back in 2015.
In 2017, he shifted to London, where he worked in investor relations, supporting the executive committee in enhancing relations with shareholders and monitoring TotalEnergies’ performance in the financial market.
In his most recent role, Bouyer served as the Managing Director of TotalEnergies EP Qatar and acted as the Country Chair in Qatar.
His extensive experience and strategic expertise will likely contribute to TotalEnergies’ continued success in Nigeria’s upstream operations.
