Court reserves judgment in governor Yusuf's appeal

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has concluded hearings and reserved its judgment regarding the appeal filed by Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.

The appeal challenges his removal from office following the decision of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

On September 20, the tribunal nullified Abba Yusuf’s election, citing the invalidation of 165,663 votes due to the absence of signatures and stamps on the ballot papers by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

As a result, the tribunal declared Nasiru Gawuna, the All Progressives Congress candidate, as the winner of the governorship election.

In response to the tribunal’s decision, Abba Yusuf appealed, seeking to have the judgment overturned. The Court of Appeal is now set to deliver its judgment on the matter.
