This strategic move aims to offer businesses and individuals in Nigeria the convenience and security of contactless payments and digital storage, aligning with the global trend towards streamlined transactions.

Merchants can now store payment details within Google Wallet, enhancing the checkout process on the Interswitch platform and elevating the user experience.

This collaboration enables the acceptance of international cards on the Interswitch Payment Gateway, positioning businesses to serve a broader international clientele effectively.

Muyiwa Asagba, the Managing Director of Digital Commerce & Merchant Acquiring at Interswitch, expressed pride in partnering with Google Pay, emphasizing their commitment to delivering advanced payment solutions that facilitate seamless transactions.

Integration with Google Pay strengthens the security of transactions through features like industry-standard tokenization, which utilizes virtual card numbers to protect against potential fraud.

Users can safeguard their information through the “Find my device” function in case of misplaced devices.

Jenny Cheng, the Vice President and General Manager of Google Wallet, highlighted Google Pay’s widespread acceptance and security features, offering users a fast, easy, and secure way to make payments using Android phones or Wear OS devices in more than 70 countries and territories.
