The matter came to light when a branch manager of the bank in Abeokuta, the state capital, discovered that the contributions had not been remitted and promptly reported the issue to the police.

Despite police efforts to arrest the suspect, Hamidu evaded capture.

However, a source within the state police command, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed that the suspect has now been apprehended.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, also confirmed the arrest, stating that Hamidu was captured in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Friday.

Odutola revealed that the suspect has confessed to the embezzlement but was unable to account for the missing funds.
