In a series of disturbing events, suspected armed herdsmen carried out separate attacks on three communities in Logo and Gwer West Local Government Areas of Benue State, claiming the lives of nine individuals on Tuesday night.
The attacks, which unfolded on Tuesday, resulted in the deaths of five people in Mahanga and Ayilamo in Logo LGA, with an additional four casualties reported in Nagi camp, Mbachohon council ward of Gwer West LGA.
An eyewitness from Ayilamo, identified as Torkuma, recounted that the assailants initially targeted Mahanga, where two individuals were killed, before proceeding to Ayilamo, where they claimed the lives of three more people.
Torkuma stated, “Herdsmen came at about 10 pm on Tuesday night. They attacked and killed two persons at the Mobile barracks, situated at Mahanga, near Ayilamo.
From there, they headed to Ayilamo town, and on entering the town, the herdsmen shot and killed another 3 persons on the spot.
